The English footballing giants have something to smile about even they are not leading the EPL Table. The English team saw the doubling of its annual pre-tax profits on the Friday, January 11, 2008. The team was exalted with this news as this was an addition to the expansion of its stadium (Old Trafford), the increase in sponsorship and leading the EPL last season. It was revealed that the figures rose to 59.6 million pounds from 30.8 million pounds. It was also expressed by the American owner of the club Malcolm Glazer that the annual turnover jumped to 245 million pounds from 165 million pounds. This meant that Manchester United became the richest football club again after 2 years, a spot which was held by Spanish football powerhouse Real Madrid. The Chief Executive David Gill also claims that this achievement will take the club’s income to a higher level, to a level never reached before by football club. The EPL is followed by around 200 countries all over the world, and has some 330 million supporters of the Red Devils apart from England. The increase in revenue is also attributed to the increasing of seats at Old Trafford which improved its match day income and also to the selling of the replica t-shirts. The American Sponsors of the team AIG are also happy with such advancements.
