Procter and Gamble – The Ad Giant

Filed under: Advertising — admin @ 5:22 pm

The first ever company which advertised nationally in the year 1880 was the ad giant Procter & Gamble. The marketing strategies that we take for granted now were defined by this very company. The concept of soap opera was introduced to us by this company to target the women world wide. Crest tooth paste which is fluoride based, the Tide detergent, the famous Pampers nappy for children were all introduced by Procter and Gamble. In the 21st century, life was very turbulent for this company, but it got back on track with Clairol and Wella in the year 2002 and focused more on the core products. In the year 2003 and 2004, the company showed immense strength and came back in form. The company’s rival -Gillette, was later on bought by Procter and Gamble in the year 2005, which brought them back in action in the world wide ad business. In the year 2006 the company had spent $8.5 billion, this made the company the no.1 company in the world of ad business. The year 2006 saw the company managing three business units: P&G beauty, Procter& and Gamble Household Care and Procter & Gamble Europe. It later on captured Latin America, France, Europe, India and Japan.
